KUCHING (Dec 25): The Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, which is known as the Diocese of Kuching, hosted its annual Christmas Open House today.
Held at the Bishop’s House, the event brought together a diverse group of community leaders, interfaith representatives, and members of the public in the spirit of unity and celebration.
In his welcoming address, Anglican Bishop the Rt Rev Datuk Danald Jute expressed gratitude for the strong community turnout.
“It is our honour and privilege to welcome each and every one of you and wish you a pleasant Christmas,” he said.
He acknowledged the sacrifices of community leaders and the essential roles they play in society and emphasised the importance of interfaith fellowship.

“Together, I feel humbled to be in this fellowship.
“They each play such an important role, not just in their faith communities, but in the collective life of our society,” he said.
He also reflected on the essence of Christmas, emphasising the universal love of God.
“God so loved the world. Not just Christians, but the entire world. We must share that love and serve our community, just as God in Christ gave himself for us,” he said.
He also underscored the spirit of togetherness and celebration.
“This open house is a time for fellowship and sharing the joy of today,” he said.
Among those present were Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Datuk Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, and Padungan assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen.
